LOVELY LONESTAR - CLEAN AT LAST

Last Friday, I attended the Dallas Quilt Show.  I found this quilt top at one of the vendors selling antique tops, fabric, feedsacks, etc.  I loved this top but it was very yellowed and stained on the outer portions....I hesitated to buy it but, at $65.00, it was  a bargain.  A really sweet lady happened to be at the booth and told me the best way to get rid of the yellow stains was to soak it in  Oxyclean, Cascade and Borax (equal parts of each)...she assured me that using this would work.   She was right....

My Lovely Lonestar in all its pristine glory!!  This beauty is hand pieced and very well made....I love the colors in it and the fact it is (now) completely stain free!

I was so impressed, I have been going through my linens looking for other things that may need a good soak...it's addictive!

THE MARVELOUS MUNDANE

Every year at this time,  I bemoan the fact that I never planted a tulip tree.  This photo was taken last year in East Texas when I was visiting my parents.  This tree is absolutely drop dead gorgeous at this time of year.....why didn't I plant one?!!!

This week is Spring Break for my children...one is in Colorado skiing and one is on one endless trip to Six Flags, spending the night, going to play putt putt, etc...he only needs money and he is fine.  I am celebrating the mundane in my life right now.  After watching the news and seeing the devastation in Japan, I appreciate the mundane.  Using the lemon oil to clean my furniture...cleaning out closets, mopping the floor...I appreciate it all.   I rode to Waco with the Hubs on Sunday...he had some work to do and I was able to embroidery my quilt label for DQGS10... a perfectly mundane day.  I loved it.

Finally...I am looking forward to Saturday when all of us will be together...

Hoping all of you are appreciating your mundane!

I hope you enjoyed the virtual tour. It was a FUN DAY and many vendors there willing to sell you wonderful things!!  I was willing to buy some wonderful things....two of my friends scored a jelly roll of Denyse Schmidt's Katie Jump Rope and one friend purchased a wonderful Lone Star Quilt done in 30s fabric....I found one of those also!!  By 1:00 p.m., I was pooped....I may or may not have taken a  nap this afternoon after I got home! :)

Of course, once I got home, I saw all news on the tsunami and devastation in Japan....saying a prayer for them....I believe a donation to the Red Cross is in order.
